Bellows product is an important part in the area of plant engineering, shipbuilding, and petrochemistry. For safety and durability, it is necessary to consider many factors when designing it. This research developed a U-shaped metal bellows design software based on the EJMA 9th Edition manual. We developed this GUI software using MATLAB software to be able to design four types of bellows: Unreinforced Single Bellows, Unreinforced Double Bellows, Reinforced Single Bellows, and Reinforced Double Bellows. We designed the already proven bellows model to verify this software. We investigated the behavior while changing the thickness of the bellows. As the thickness of the bellows increases, the spring rate, thrust force, and stress increase, and fatigue life decreases. This software will help design engineers save time and effort. Since 2002, Vinkarr has been helping companies across various industries optimize their business processes through custom software solutions working with global Enterprises, SMEs and forward-thinking Start-Ups as their end-to-end solution partners for Custom-Tailored Software, web and mobile apps.
Engineering and designing are done per EJMA equations as well as per the latest revisions of the ASME B31.3, ASME B31.1, and ASME Section 8, Division 1. U.S. Bellows designs are performed using in-house developed design software and calculations further checked using hand calculations. U.S. Bellows also has full in-house finite element analysis capabilities and we often use this methodology to prove designs.
After the calculations SPULLOWS also generates a manufacturing drawing in ACAD or any other 2D drafting software of the bellows with assembly and child part drawing along with BOM (Bill of Materials), Standards / Schedules used, a 3D model, and costing sheet. All these outputs are generated automatically by a click of a button.
The material options in the software consist of all the standard materials used in manufacture of bellows, like SS, MS, Inconel to just name a few of them. However, the user has an option to add a new material into the database by going to the Admin screen and adding new material. Once a material is added here it becomes a part of the material database and will be reflected in the material drop down menu as well.
On these inputs SPULLOWS calculates the number of convolutions required to satisfy the design as per EJMA standards. The user can select the number of convolutions that he feels is ideal.

Triad Bellows Series-1 metal bellows are manufactured with heavier gauge T-321 s/s to achieve higher pressure ratings. The allowable movements shown are based on a minimum of 3000 non-concurrent cycles. For lower pressure applications a Series-2 expansion joint will provide increased movement capability. When a standard metal bellows is not the right fit we will design and build a custom metal bellows perfectly designed for your application at a standard price.
Triad Bellows Series-2 expansion joints are manufactured with lighter gauge T-321 s/s material to achieve greater movement capability while still maintaining a minimum of 3000 life cycles. When an even higher cycle life is required let us know and we will go to work designing the perfect metal bellows for your application. Our EJMA 10 design software allows us to combine just the right thickness and number of bellows plies needed to balance performance and cost savings.

In cases where the bellows integrity under pressure is not validated by the results of the design calculations using EJMA standards and the geometric complexity indicates the need for further optimization of the project, Giorgi Engineering can verify the integrity of the product with finite element analysis (FEA), using ANSYS® software.
The technical approval and the results of the analysis obtained in accordance with the terms of the specified design standard are provided as a technical documentation package, complete with valuation reports.
The company has introduced a dedicated software to manage traceability of all the materials used in any specific order, integrating this with our design software and guaranteeing the integrity of all the materials used. The software also produces reports of the internal tests and quality inspections results.
The reports can be sent separately or supplied with the bellows, allowing the client to reduce facility downtime to the minimum before the installation. This rapidity in supplying the documentation ensures that at the time of the offer the client already has all the technical details necessary to make an informed evaluation of the proposed standard and personalized solutions, such as the project specifics, Industry 4.0, and the project code.
If components are gripped via a bore, the IBG inner bellows gripper can be used. Different sizes are available. The operating principle is pushing / pulling. The inner bellows grippers can be very easily integrated into the gripping system via the extension thread.More Info www.ags-shop.de
There are two type of vacuum bellows of Htc's products. "Flexible Hoses" have concertina walls made by pressurizing a thin-wall tube. They can be bent, but not be compressed. The other type is "Flexible Bellows Connections." This type can be bent and compressed.
When possible, design the system so that the bellows make only a single bend or curve. Multiple bends concentrate stress at minimum radius points, reducing life expectancy during flexing or vibration. An elbow on one or both ends will usually eliminate multiple bends. It is difficult to make a short bellows fit between parallel flange faces that are not coaxial.
6.6 | HYDRA diaphragm bellows with normal profile Preferred dimensions Flexibility for small installation spaces HYDRA diaphragm bellows with normal profiles have a very high range of movement. They are particularly suited for applications in which large movements must be implemented in very little installation space. Standard material is 1.4571. Bellows which are subject to high loads can also be made of the hardening material AM 350. Axial loads require a movement distribu- tion of 80% compression and 20% stretching.
